A literature study is therefore conducted in this project to improve the understanding of methods including modularisation as well as Design for Assembly and Design for Disassembly.

When designing a battery pack, it is important to weigh different parameters against each other to acheive a suitable design. It is therefore significant for these tradeoffs to have a valid foundation to stand on. One tradeoff that needs to be accounted for is comparing safety of the battery against its weight.
The design solutions are assessed from an assembly, disassembly and modularity point of view to establish what solutions are of interest. Based on the evaluation, an “ideal” battery is developed with focus on the hardware, hence the housing, attachment of modules and wires, thermal system and battery management box.
To address this issue, Hellmuth et al. introduced a method for the automated assessment of EV LIB disassembly. The method comprises two evaluation categories, where the first pertains to the feasibility of automating disassembly operations, and the second focuses on determining the necessity of automation.
